What the calculator reports

The calculator reports Nakshatra 1–27, Pada 1–4, sidereal lunar longitude, degree within the Nakshatra and Pada, the declared traditional lord identifier, Nakshatra sector interval, distance to the nearest Pada boundary, precision, UTC instant, allowlisted engine/method metadata, and Lahiri setting. It deliberately omits symbols, deity mappings, devotion, and interpretive copy.

Longitude and classification are computational facts under a profile. Even the traditional lord identifier belongs to the proposed ruleset; symbols, deity references, devotional language, and interpretations require separate sources and cultural review and are not returned.

Proposed sector arithmetic

nakshatra-lahiri-v1 divides the 360-degree sidereal zodiac into twenty-seven semi-open sectors of 13°20′. The sector index is floor(longitude / 13°20′). Within that sector, Pada is floor(remainder / 3°20′) + 1.

The lunar longitude is never rounded before either classification. An exact tested boundary belongs to the interval beginning there. Display rounding cannot change the semantic result.

Time precision and ambiguity

No silent noon or guessed timezone is permitted. The precision field and warning describe proximity of the submitted instant to a Pada boundary; they do not prove stability across an unsubmitted uncertainty window. A Dasha comparison is meaningful only when it uses the same normalized birth instant and Lahiri profile.

Method and limitations

Interpretation boundaries

Nakshatra meanings are part of Jyotish tradition and are presented for education, entertainment, and reflection. They do not scientifically determine personality, gender, profession, fertility, health, sexuality, marriage, wealth, or destiny.

The copy avoids gender stereotypes, guaranteed occupations, health diagnosis, and prescriptive devotion. A Birth Star cannot reveal a specific soulmate or another person's feelings.

Limitations

Different ayanamsas, lunar positions, boundary policies, time precision, and data versions can change a result near a sector edge. Nakshatra is not the same as Rashi, even though both use the Moon in the proposed profile.

This v1 does not promise compatibility matching, Muhurta selection, remedial rituals, or a full natal interpretation. It is not advice for important decisions.

Privacy in the calculator

Minimum data uses same-origin POST, transient processing, and private, no-store behavior. Date, time, timezone, longitude, Nakshatra, Pada, lord identifier, warnings, and hashes must stay out of URLs, storage, logs, traces, replay, analytics, metadata, advertising, and quiz links. No belief data is requested.

Explanatory example

A synthetic fixture can place the Moon exactly at a 3°20′ Pada boundary inside a sector. The semi-open rule assigns the new Pada, and the underlying longitude remains available as evidence. This illustrates a test case rather than a personal interpretation.
