What the calculator tests

The mangal-dosha-lahiri-v1 technical profile uses a sidereal Lahiri chart with Whole Sign houses. It tests Mars in houses 1, 2, 4, 7, 8, or 12 from three reference points: Ascendant, Moon, and Venus. For each reference, the evidence follows house=((marsSign-referenceSign+12)%12)+1.

The calculator reports Mars's position, the Ascendant, each reference sign, the derived house, raw rule evidence, fixed settings, and ruleset version. It does not collapse the three references into an unexplained severity label.

Why exact birth data is required

The Ascendant and houses depend on precise local time and place. Date-only input cannot support the complete proposed rule. Historical IANA timezone conversion, selected coordinates, and daylight-saving ambiguity must be handled before the chart is calculated.

Unknown time blocks the result rather than becoming noon. The current form does not offer a Moon-only or Venus-only subset as a complete Mangal Dosha calculation.

Rules deliberately excluded

Intensity tiers, anshik or poorna labels, cancellations, exceptions, and remedial recommendations are outside v1. Sources differ on those topics, and adding them without explicit specialist decisions would conceal the rule choice behind a confident label.

Responsible interpretation

Mangal Dosha belongs to a cultural and astrological tradition. A computational match to a declared rule does not scientifically predict marriage quality, fertility, violence, separation, health, death, or misfortune. It does not determine whether two people should marry or continue a relationship.
