That narrow boundary is intentional. A spiritual correspondence can be sensitive personal information and deserves more care than a generic automated label. Technical calculation does not authorize a devotional conclusion.
What Ishta Devata means in this scope
This product uses the term only for a declared derivation within a reviewed Jyotish tradition. It does not claim to identify a person's true faith, chosen form of worship, spiritual obligation, or relationship with a deity. People define and practice belief for themselves.
The page distinguishes computational chart steps from cultural interpretation. Even when positions are reproducible, any religious correspondence would remain a reviewed tradition claim rather than an astronomical fact, and this calculator does not publish one.
Proposed Jaimini derivation
If more than one body falls within the one-arc-minute Atmakaraka tie tolerance, the calculator returns candidate derivations and marks the confidence ambiguous instead of choosing one silently. It explicitly rejects calling a simple Nakshatra-to-deity lookup “classical Ishta Devata” and never invents a religious correspondence.
Decisions that remain open
Birth data and calculation precision
The current derivation requires a local date, minute-precision local time, and an IANA timezone within 1900–2100. It does not calculate an Ascendant and does not request a city, latitude, or longitude. Changing the time can change planetary degrees, karaka ordering, Navamsa positions, and downstream candidates, so unknown time is not accepted and never becomes noon.
Cultural and religious safety
The calculator uses descriptive, non-prescriptive language. It does not tell a person to adopt a belief, perform a ritual, recite a mantra, buy an object, make a donation, or treat a computed candidate as divine instruction. It does not rank deities, traditions, or practitioners.
The result must never be used for targeted advertising based on inferred belief. It cannot predict salvation, punishment, destiny, health, relationships, wealth, or future events.
Limitations
Jyotish lineages differ, and a single ruleset cannot represent every practice. Versioning one method makes its assumptions visible but does not establish universal or religious authority. Translation also requires care because Sanskrit terms and devotional concepts may not have exact substitutes.
This content is for educational context and reflective entertainment. For questions of practice, users may choose to consult trusted sources or qualified community teachers on their own terms.
Privacy in the calculator
Minimum birth fields use a same-origin POST, transient processing, and private, no-store behavior. There is no saved profile and the form never asks about belief. Inputs, chart facts, computational candidates, inferred belief, or stable hashes must not enter URLs, persistence, logs, traces, replay, analytics, advertising, metadata, or quiz links.
Explanatory example
A synthetic fixture can verify a chain from a test Atmakaraka through D9 and Karakamsha to a twelfth-sign rule. The interface shows those steps and stops at computational candidates; deityCorrespondence and prescription remain null. It does not describe a person's faith or prescribe conduct. This is an evidence outline, not a spiritual result.
Frequently asked questions
Can this page identify my Ishta Devata now?
Does it need an Ascendant or coordinates?
No. The current derivation uses the seven classical planetary longitudes, Atmakaraka, Navamsa, Karakamsha, and its twelfth sign. The form does not request coordinates.
Is it a Nakshatra-to-deity lookup?
No. The proposed scope uses a Jaimini Atmakaraka–Navamsa–Karakamsha derivation.
Will it prescribe a mantra or ritual?
No. Devotional prescriptions, remedies, and fear-based upsells are prohibited.
Does the result determine a person's religion?
No. Belief and practice belong to the person; a symbolic correspondence cannot infer them.
Will the correspondence be used for advertising?
No. Inferred religious or spiritual information must not enter analytics or targeting.
