Solar longitude is the computed astronomical value; element, modality, and ruler are fixed symbolic labels. None of them constitutes a scientific personality assessment.
The current form is tropical
The public form uses western-tropical-v1 and does not expose a zodiac selector. It does not merge a sidereal value into the result or change the calculation according to page language.
Comparisons with another calculator require matching coordinate profiles. The fixed tropical profile remains visible with the calculation settings.
Date-only input and cusp days
The current tool classifies only the entered instant. It does not evaluate an entire day, return date-only candidates, or silently use noon or a generic cutoff.
Proposed methodology and validation
sun-sign-longitude-v1 derives solar longitude from astronomy-engine@2.1.19, normalizes it to 0–360 degrees, and classifies it into semi-open 30-degree intervals without display rounding changing the sign. The effective UTC instant comes from the request and the form supplies the fixed tropical profile.
Fixtures must cover all twelve ingresses, leap days, timezones with unusual offsets, and dates where a local day crosses a boundary. Independent comparisons must align frames and settings before a tolerance is evaluated.
Interpretation boundaries
Sun Sign astrology is provided for entertainment and reflection. A zodiac classification does not diagnose personality, confirm identity, determine compatibility, or predict health, money, marriage, or future events.
The page will not use a sign to infer sensitive traits or target advertising. It cannot reveal a soulmate or another person's choices.
Limitations
The answer depends on the declared tropical profile, instant, timezone, and engine version. A fixed popular date range may disagree near an ingress because it lacks the required time and year context.
This tool does not calculate an Ascendant, houses, Moon Sign, Rashi, or a full natal chart. It is not advice for medical, legal, financial, safety, or relationship decisions.
Privacy in the calculator
The minimum date/time fields use same-origin POST, transient processing, and private, no-store behavior. Date, time, timezone, sign, longitude, warnings, and hashes must stay out of URLs, storage, logs, traces, replay, analytics, metadata, profiles, advertising, and quiz links.
Explanatory example
A test may place an exact instant close to where the Sun crosses from one tropical 30-degree interval to the next. The calculator classifies the computed longitude and adds a boundary warning when appropriate. It never chooses noon for a missing time. This describes expected behavior, not a sign result for anyone.

Why not use a date table?
Solar ingress occurs at a specific instant that varies by year and timezone. A table can be ambiguous near a boundary.
Does this form offer a sidereal mode?
No. The current public form is fixed to Western tropical. Sidereal astrology uses a different coordinate profile and should not be mixed into this result.
Do I always need a birth time?
Is Sun Sign the same as Rising Sign?
No. Sun Sign uses solar longitude; Rising Sign uses the eastern horizon at a specific time and place.
